Meet Muhammad

"My name is Muhammad. I am 14 years old, and from Afghanistan. I grew up in a large family, but only my brother and I have survived - I was 13 when I lost my entire family. I speak 4 languages - Pashto, English, Greek and sign language. I learnt Greek and signing on my journey to the UK, which took 4 months. I want to go to back to school and continue to learn so that I can be a teacher like my dad was in Kabul. I love cooking, and my favourite dishes are Mantu, a dish very similar to dumplings, and Borani Banjan, made with aubergine. People are worried about the things I have seen and experienced. I am getting help from The Harbour Project and through the friends I have made at the Mosque. I want to be part of a family again, but with someone who understands what I have been through."
